Work through your findings: statuses, merging and filters

Each finding on Insights > Top findings has a status. Use the status to track what you plan to do, what you are doing and what you finished. You can also merge related findings into one card.

Nothing on this page publishes, spends money or reaches a customer. A status is your own note on the finding. You act on a recommendation in Create or Performance.

Problem and intended user

The ecommerce manager (the person who runs the store) reads a long list of findings and must remember which are decided, under way or done. In a small store the same person may hold the media buyer's job (the person who runs your paid ads) too. Without a record, the same finding gets read twice and two findings about one problem look like two jobs.

Current workflow

Many merchants keep this record outside the tool that found the issue. They use a spreadsheet, a task board or a shared note, copy each finding in by hand and tick it off when the work is done. When two reports describe one problem, they join the rows by hand.

Prerequisites

You need findings in the feed. See Top findings.

How Nexus works

Nexus stores one status for each finding and shows it as a badge on the card. Everyone who uses Nexus for your store sees the same status. You move a finding forward with the buttons on the card. A status change is a note for whoever reads the feed. It starts no ad change, no spend and no message to a customer, so no approval step applies.

Move a finding through its statuses

WARNING

Resolved and Dismissed are final. The card shows Resolved · final or Dismissed · final and has no button to undo it. Dismiss a finding only when you do not want to see it again.

Every finding starts as New. The buttons at the bottom right of the card move it forward.

Dismiss sits beside the forward button at every step before Resolved. It moves the finding to Dismissed.

To change a status:

  1. Open Insights > Top findings.
  2. Find the card.
  3. Select the forward button, or select Dismiss.

The status badge on the card updates. A finding you resolve or dismiss then leaves All Active.

Find findings by status

Use the Status menu above the list. To see a resolved or dismissed finding again, choose its own status. Both Dismissed and Hidden list dismissed findings.

Merge two or more findings that describe the same problem. One finding becomes the primary. The others join it as related signals.

WARNING

The other findings leave the feed when you merge. The primary card does not list them, and this page has no button to split them again. Merge only findings that describe the same problem.

  1. Select Select & Merge above the list.
  2. Tick the cards you want to merge. A counter shows how many are selected.
  3. Select Merge N, where N is the count. The button stays off until you tick at least two cards.
  4. In the Merge N insights dialog, choose the primary finding with the radio buttons.
  5. Select Merge.

Select Cancel in the dialog to close it without merging. Select Cancel above the list to leave merge mode.

A finding that already holds merged findings can only be the primary. Choose it as the primary, or merge without it.

Return to a view

The page address keeps your search text, Status, Types, Agents and Impact sort. Copy the address from your browser to return to the same view later. The domain chips (CX, Customers, Products, Ads) are not kept.

The status badge and buttons

Each card shows a status badge. Its buttons depend on the status, as the forward-button table lists. A Resolved or Dismissed card shows Resolved · final or Dismissed · final in place of buttons.

The merge dialog

The Merge N insights dialog lists each selected finding with a radio button. The Cancel and Merge buttons sit in its title bar.

Expected value and measurement

Statuses can help you keep one list of what is decided, under way and done. Merging can help you read one card in place of several.

To check how work is going:

  1. Open Insights > Top findings.
  2. Choose a status in the Status menu, such as In Progress or Resolved.
  3. Read the cards in that status.

To check whether the work paid off, open the page that holds the metric the finding is about. For an ad finding, open Performance > Ad performance and compare Gross profit after ad spend or Matched revenue. See Ad performance. For other findings, see the pages named in Top findings. Compare the same metric before and after you acted, over dates of the same length. You cannot isolate the effect of one finding when other changes ran at the same time. Nexus does not report the result of a resolved finding on this page.

Limitations and exceptions

  • Resolved, Dismissed and a merge cannot be undone on this page.
  • Nexus asks no confirmation for a status change or a dismissal. Read the warning first.
  • Nexus can close a finding without your action. A closed finding leaves All Active, and the Status menu has no option to list it.

If a status change fails

If the card had already moved on, for example in another tab, Nexus refreshes the card without a message. For any other error, a message appears: Couldn't update status, followed by the reason. Try again after you read the reason.

If a merge fails

The dialog stays open and shows the reason. Fix the cause, or select Cancel to close it.

Demo Mode

In Demo Mode the feed shows sample findings. Status changes and merges do not work on sample findings, and the Status menu choices other than All Active and Hidden do not narrow the list.
