AI credits, costs and top-ups

Credits pay for some AI actions, such as new images in a Studio design. This is the one page that explains them. It states no credit amount and no price. The Billing page and the cost badge always show the current value.

Where to see your balance

  • Header pill. A coin icon and a number show your available credits. Select it to open Settings > Billing.
  • AI Credits card. On Settings > Billing, the card splits your credits into two pools.
PoolWhat it holds
Monthly creditsThe credits Nexus gives you each cycle. A bar shows how many you have used this cycle and the date they reset.
Purchased creditsCredits you bought. They never expire.

Nexus uses Monthly credits first, then Purchased credits. Monthly credits that you do not use do not carry over after the reset date.

If your account has no credit balance yet, Nexus hides the pill. The AI Credits card then says Credit metering isn't active for this account yet.

What costs credits

The What actions cost table on the Billing page shows the cost of each action that uses credits. It has three columns: What you get, Charged and Credits.

You pay only for actions you start, and only when they succeed. In Create, the actions that use credits include:

  • A new image in a Studio design.
  • An existing image in a new size.
  • An image edited with AI.
  • Ad text rewritten with AI, and three text suggestions for your ad.
  • An image made editable, so you can change each layer.

An ad breakdown you ask for with Analyze also uses credits.

Generate and Re-run in the Creative Wizard, Sync Ads and Refresh Ads for competitors, and Recompute Data on the JTBD tab do not use your credits, but limits apply.

A second table lists volume limits that apply whatever your balance, such as the number of competitors you track. Select Need more? Contact sales to email the sales team.

Read the cost badge

A badge with a coin icon sits next to the button that spends credits, for example in the Studio editor. It shows the total before you press the button.

  • For repeated actions, the badge multiplies the price of one by the count.
  • A ~ before the number means an estimate.
  • up to before the number means the most the action can cost.
  • The badge turns red with a warning icon when you do not have enough credits.
  • Some screens label it Cost or Estimated cost.

In Demo Mode the badge adds demo and free. Nothing is charged.

Confirm credit usage

WARNING

Confirm and run starts the action and spends the credits.

Before a large spend, Nexus opens the Confirm credit usage dialog. It opens when the cost is large in itself or large compared with your balance. The dialog shows:

  • This will use (number) credits for (action name). Nexus adds approximately when the number is an estimate.
  • Your current balance and the balance after the action.
  • A Don't ask again checkbox.
  • Cancel and Confirm and run.

The dialog is a confirmation, not a block. Tick Don't ask again to skip it for that action. Nexus remembers the choice in the browser you use. Another browser or device still asks.

When you cannot afford an action

Not enough credits. The cost badge turns red. Nexus does not start the action and opens Buy credits.

A limit. Nexus can also stop an action because of a limit on one action, or a limit on the spending of your store over a period. This can happen when your balance is enough. The message names the limit that applies.

Low and empty balance

BannerWhen it shows
You're running low on AI creditsYour balance is getting small compared with your monthly credits. It shows the credits left. The AI Credits card shows a similar notice.
You're out of AI credits.Your balance is zero. Actions that use credits pause until you top up.

Both banners have a Top up link to the Billing page.

Buy more credits

WARNING

Buy credits makes a real charge.

  1. Open Settings > Billing.
  2. In the AI Credits card, select Buy More.
  3. In Buy credits, select a package. Each row shows its credits and its price.
  4. Select Buy credits. On some accounts the button reads Continue to checkout.
  5. If Shopify asks, approve the one-time charge on its page.

The dialog says how you are charged. Depending on your account, the charge goes on your Shopify bill, or Nexus sends you to Shopify to approve a one-time charge. After you approve it, Nexus shows (number) credits added. If Shopify is slow, you see Your purchase is still processing. Nexus adds the credits within the hour, and you are not charged twice.

If you cancel on Shopify, Nexus shows No charge was made. Your credit balance stays the same.

Buy More does not appear when your Nexus account team manages your subscription, and it is disabled in Demo Mode.

Review your usage

Where your credits went lists the actions you used this cycle. Credit history lists each entry with its Date, Type, Status and Amount.
